Aerial photo 21.6.2001. Grey part just cultivated. Brushing of the strawberry rows is one of the first tasks during spring. New strawberry rows are covered with plastic. Bird nests on the field are protected. Curlew's nest in the picture. Pesticides are not used, areas between rows are being cut with a special mower.
Formulas are ready for a race. Sizes for kids as well as adults. Midnight sun! Esko Tuomela's bees guarantee strawberry pollination.  Flowers pollinated by bees give better crops. Plastic cover speeds up growth also for potatoes.
Putting up nets for peas. With nets, pea gives a better yield. Alma being groomed by Susanna. Susanna and Joona with a kitten. First strawberries ripen under a warming gauze.
Risk of frost causing problems is prevented by irrigation. Drizzle irrigation pipes in the ground are used for normal irrigation. Plenty of water for our fields from river Kyrö. First harvest from new plants already during the same summer. Looks like a good harvest.

Nice sunshine already at six o'clock in the morning. Last strawberries of the day sold at Vaasa marketplace. oneoye harvest at its best. Listen to me small hedgehog, on your own don't go for strawberries... Trampoline is the kids' favourite.
